Gem Potential

Kenya is a country with some major occurrence of a variety of colored, precious stones. The country is a world leader in the production of Tsavorite (a green-colored gem) but other, primarily mined gemstones include ruby, sapphire (in various colors), amethyst, aquamarine, beryl, peridot, tourmaline and other various types of garnets.

Simba Group Kenya, along with its partners, was able to acquire mining licenses in some of Kenya's highest priority areas for not only gemstone but also graphite, gold, columbite and beryl.

The area's potential is valued - conservatively - at over US$100 million for gemstones alone.

To date, north-western Kenya has attracted various multi- national prospecting and mining companies. Most of them are involved in exploration and mining activities of gemstone and other minerals including petroleum prospecting.
